Can't say anything about it making much difference outside the theoretical realm, but overbore barrels can cause problems with fibre wads, be aware of that. It's easy to take the stock off to get to the return spring, and trigger assembly out, and barrel off, and recoil spring assembly. You just need a good set of screwdrivers to keep from buggering up the screw heads.I first noticed it at the trap range in July. My gun was not locking back after shooting Browning Dove&Clay loads. He said that to properly convert a 2 9/16" gun to 2 3/4" is more expensive than most of them are worth. If you had a high grade 2 9/16" gun, the conversion would wreck the value. Converting just the barrel is possible, but I wouldn't.

I am having ejection issues with the gun. I have shot nothing but heavy load, #4 & #5 lead in Remington, Kent and Federal through the gun. He said that to properly convert a 2 9/16" gun to 2 3/4" is more expensive than most of them are worth. If you had a high grade 2 9/16" gun, the conversion would wreck the value. Converting just the barrel is possible, but I wouldn't.The A5 Sweet Sixteen is far more satisfying. The model of shotgun that never needs "fixing" or adjusting hasn't been made yet. But, since Browning did not have an opportunity to make things right, your question is unanswerable. I have taken barrel, forearm, recoil spring, friction spring/bronze, and friction ring off and reassembled several times. .
